Inspirational Parenting Quotes

Today’s quotes are inspirational for those who want to improve their parenting skills.  I found these quotes to be very helpful especially since parenting is a new thing for me.

People Quotes on Parenting

“The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development. I used to say, "If you will take care of me, I will take care of you." Now I say, "I will take care of me for you if you will take care of you for me" Jim Rohn

“Your family and your love must be cultivated like a garden. Time, effort, and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing.” Jim Rohn

“Leadership is the great challenge of the 21st century in science, politics, education, and industry. But the greatest challenge in leadership is parenting. We need to do more than just get our enterprises ready for the challenges of the twenty-first century. We also need to get our children ready for the challenges of the 21st century.”  Jim Rohn

“If you talk to your children, you can help them to keep their lives together. If you talk to them skillfully, you can help them to build future dreams.” Jim Rohn

“Say those words aloud that will bless your children: "You are a child of God. God has good things in store for you. You are blessed and cannot be cursed!" Then watch to see how your child begins to thrive, how his attitude about himself will change, how her actions with others will improve, as the blessings of God begin to take root in the lives of your children.”  Victoria Osteen

"Children behave in ways that perpetuate what they have experienced," Martha Farrell Erickson

Inspirational Bible Quotes on Parenting

“16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.  17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17(NLT Bible)

9 “But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren.  10 Never forget the day when you stood before the Lord your God at Mount Sinai, where he told me, ‘Summon the people before me, and I will personally instruct them. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live, and they will teach their children to fear me also.’ Deuteronomy 4:7(NLT Bible)

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”  Proverbs 22:6

Pay attention, teach and praise your children.  These are the inspirational words of wisdom I took from these quotes.

Spend Time

Time is absolutely important when you have children.  When they are born they have no understanding of what is going on around them.  Therefore, it is your responsibility as a parent to give your child as much attention as possible.  Set aside a reasonable amount of time each day to talk to your children.

Teach

Teach your children everything you have learned from your experiences and from God’s word the Bible.  The more you speak to them about these things the better equipped they will be to meet life’s challenges.

Even when you think they are not listening they are, so just keep talking.  Even if they seem stubborn at first, as time goes by and they have their own experiences, they will remember the words of wisdom you have spoken to them.  They’ll say, “Mom and Dad were right,” and straighten up.  Just never stop teaching your kids.  You are saving them from a lot of bad experiences by doing so.

Praise

As a parent children need your encouragement and support above anyone else’s.  This is especially true when they are very young.  The words you speak to your children can determine how they feel about themselves now and in years to come.  If you spend too much time criticizing and belittling your kids they will feel like they can’t do anything right.  This attitude can lead to low self esteem and lack of motivation to do anything in life.

When was the last time you said, “I love you” or “you did a great job?”  If you are not in the habit of speaking lovingly to your child why not start today.  It’s never too late to improve in this aspect of parenting.

Be a Good Example

Some parents feel inadequate.  They don’t think they have good parenting skills.  Remember that you do not have to be a perfect parent.  It’s just impossible.  The most important thing is that you spend time and act lovingly towards your children.  You don’t have to have any special parenting skills.

On the other hand children do learn by example.  If there is something that you need to work on, by all means do it.  This may be the case if you have low self esteem, have a bad temper, or have a tendency to be disrespectful.  In these situations it will be an enormous improvement to your parenting skills because we don’t want these bad traits to rub off on them.

You can improve your parenting skills.  All it takes is some time and effort.  Read these quotes to remind you and motivate you to keep trying.

Affirmation

I can use my time, words, and actions to inspire my child to be a successful and happy individual.  I have what it takes to improve my parenting skills.
